Small Business Insurance

Small businesses have always been the lifeblood of the city of Sharon, but the commercial environment looks considerably different today than the blacksmiths, butchers, dry good stores, and taverns that served the borough’s 700 residents in the mid-1800s when Gilbert’s Risk Solutions opened our doors.

Independent businesses continue to be the backbone not just of our region, but of the nation. The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2012 data put the population of employer businesses at 5.73 million, with firms employing fewer than 500 workers accounting for 99.7% of that total, and firms with fewer than 20 workers at nearly 90% of the total.

At Gilbert’s Risk Solutions, we’re committed to our community and the commercial enterprises that give our region character, vibrancy, and an enviable quality of life. Whatever the size of your business – whether it’s a handful of employees or several hundred, single or multiple locations – our goal is the same: to be your trusted risk management partner.

While we’re proud to call Pennsylvania our home, we’ve helped businesses all across the country manage their risk and we look forward to helping you, too – no matter where it is that you call home.

Our goal is to be your outsourced risk management partner

Business owners know that there’s always something that can go wrong.  Whether it’s a production delay due to a problem in the supply chain or a worker injury on the plant floor, you need to protect your operations, your productivity, and your bottom line. Gilbert’s Risk Solutions can help.

Seven generations have trusted us with their business

All Pennsylvania small businesses owners know there’s any number of things that can disrupt the flow of business and jeopardize the bottom line: dissatisfied customers filing a lawsuit, a weather-related shut-down, or the loss of a key employee. Our role is to work with you to identify your current and potential exposures and put solutions in place to reduce your risk. Some of those solutions will be financial in the form of insurance products, but others might be business processes or measures to reduce an exposure.

Business Owner’s Policy (BOP)

Frequently, small businesses can benefit by a package of insurance coverages called Business Owner Policies, or BOPs. These include core, essential coverages to protect your business, including: Business Property Insurance – covering damage to your property, buildings, equipment, inventory, etc.; General Liability Insurance -covering damage to someone else’s person or property, and for any lawsuits that might ensue; Business interruption – coverage to replace lost income or continue financial obligations if an unexpected event shuts you down.

Tailored Protection

You are required by law to have workers’ compensation insurance, which will cover medical and temporary wage replacement should an employee be injured on the job. Depending on the nature and scope of your business, there are several optional protections that may be beneficial – see the sidebar for a few. Assessing your exposures and suggesting solutions to mitigate your risk is part of the Risk Shield® Assessment that we conduct on your behalf.
