28 Dec December Team of the Month: Farrell Steelers
What an amazing football season everyone in Mercer County had this year! One of our area’s very own, the Farrell Steelers Football Team led by Head Coach Jarrett Samuels, brought home the PIAA Class A State Championship this December. This is one of the reasons why Gilbert’s Risk Solutions is not only proud, but also honored, to name them as our December Team of the Month.
While only playing one game in December, Farrell’s state championship win to finish the season with a 15-0 record was enough to secure the award. The Steelers defeated Lackawanna Trail by a score of 55-20 in the title game. At one point, Farrell scored 55 consecutive points to take a 55-7 lead in the fourth quarter. Senior Running Back Christian Lewis contributed five touchdowns in their championship game and Senior Quarterback Kyi Wright added two of his own to add to their history-making win.
Farrell’s standout Wide Receiver Jordan Townsend caught a touchdown pass from Kyi Wright, and Senior Lineman Kobe Hilton led a dominant showing for the Farrell Offensive and Defensive Line groups.
Other seniors on Farrell’s team includes: Elijah Harper, Notorius Atwood, EJ Rawlins, Tymir Green, Cameron Zimmerman, Vincent Purdie, and Dashon Sims.
