Non-Profit Insurance

In 1854 when we launched our business, charitable organizations were very different than they are today. Simultaneous to our start, the Mercer County Home and Hospital was opening its doors. In the fashion of the era, it was a “poor farm” or “alms house” dedicated to providing for the indigent. Today, Pennsylvania is home to thousands of nonprofits that offer charitable and philanthropic services. Gilbert’s Risk Solutions is proud to “help the helpers,” providing insurance and risk management to these vital community resources.

In Pennsylvania, to earn a tax-exempt status, non-profits must be dedicated to a charitable or philanthropic activity that benefits the community. They are regulated by the state’s Nonprofit Corporation Law. Non-profit organizations take many forms: arts and theatre groups, foodbanks, daycare and eldercare programs, social service agencies, residential treatment programs, and more.

Nonprofits face unique exposures and, therefore, typical commercial insurance policies do not provide suitable coverage. Insurance coverage must be tailored to unique circumstance. For example, most non-profits rely heavily on volunteers, and this exposure needs to be addressed. Gilbert’s Risk Solutions insures a wide range of non-profit organizations – find out how we can help your organization.

While we’re proud to call Pennsylvania our home, we’ve helped businesses all across the country manage their risk and we look forward to helping you, too – no matter where it is that you call home.

Our goal is to be your outsourced risk management partner

Business owners know that there’s always something that can go wrong.  Whether it’s a production delay due to a problem in the supply chain or a worker injury on the plant floor, you need to protect your operations, your productivity, and your bottom line. Gilbert’s Risk Solutions can help.

Our goal is to be your outsourced risk management partner

Most non-profits operate on thin margins and have little room for unplanned financial expenses. A slip-and-fall suit from a volunteer, a burglary, or a kitchen fire during a fundraiser can spell disaster without proper insurance fallback. Gilbert’s Risk Solutions partners with non-profit organizations to identify areas of potential exposure and recommend solutions to mitigate the risk.

Our Process

Although insurance is a critical financial component in protecting your organization, it’s only one component. To prevent losses, it’s important to also manage your risk. The Gilbert’s Risk Solutions process is a consultative one, based on a risk management approach. Our proprietary RISK SHIELD® Process identifies your exposures and puts a loss control plan in place to mitigate those exposures. Often, the solution is an insurance product but, frequently, it’s a recommendation for a business process or a measure that will reduce an exposure.

Tailored Solutions

All nonprofits are different in purpose, structure and the risks that they face. As part of our risk assessment process, we will advise you of any organization-specific exposures that might warrant risk control measures or a supplemental form of liability insurance. We work with more than 100 of the nation’s premier insurance companies and can find any specialty coverage you may need.

360 Degree Approach

We take a 360 degree view of your organization to ensure you are secure. Non-profit organizations can benefit greatly from the broad range of services that we offer, including Loss Control, Employee Benefits, Human Resources, compliance consultation, and Surety Bonds. Gilbert’s Risk Solutions offers a multi-pronged approach to risk mitigation.
