31 Oct October Team of the Month – Hickory Hornets Girls Golf Team
Gilbert’s is thrilled to award the Hickory Hornets Girls Golf Team as the October Team of the Month! The girls finished their historic season this past Wednesday, by placing 3rd in the PIAA Class AA State Championships at Heritage Hills Golf Resort.
Led by Coach Craig Antush, the Hornets Girls Golf Team came out swinging at their first match of the season, capturing first place at their own invitational. This set the tone for many great performances throughout the fall.
Hickory’s Leah Benson, Kyra Woods, and Kate Brown had outstanding seasons and finished multiple matches under par. Benson was also awarded the title of the region’s Golfer of the Year.
The Hickory Girls Golf team went undefeated in their region to defend their regional title and placed 2nd the in District 10 Tournament – becoming the first Mercer County Team to ever qualify for the State Championship
